2014 The 8th (deadly Zin) Zinfandel

Zinners be grinners. Delight in a rich, ripe bouquet with cranberries, blueberry and a hint of liquorice. Enjoy a lovely bright palate with ripe black currant and jam and nicely balanced red berry acidity.  Fabulous with roasts.  Cellar for 5+ years, if you can wait for that pleasure!

We grew our single vineyard low yield zinfandel with particular attention to soil health using minimal chemical input. Grapes were handpicked, chilled and crushed into small open fermenters.

Following fermentation winemaker Dylan Arvidson matured the wine for 14 months in a blend of American and French oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES

If you are looking for a full bodied flavoursome wine this is it.

Deeply coloured and showing good viscosity indicating the richness of alcohol and body.

The aroma is of raspberry fruit characters being lifted by the alcohol, showing good medicinal characters with an undercurrent of Mediterranean herbs and dried spices.

The taste is rich and satisfying. Heat from the alcohol is evident but is balanced by fruit and wood ageing. The wine lingers attractively on the finish.

A big complex style that will reward with keeping although it can be enjoy now.
